Why Is Muhammad ﷺ The Most
Influential Person In History?
Michael H. Hart ranked him #1 in “The 100: A Ranking of the Most Influential Persons in History.” Here is why — through eight lenses of his extraordinary life.
The Orphan Who Changed The World
Born without a father, losing his mother at 6 — no wealth, no army, no political power. Yet he transformed civilization. The ultimate story of character over circumstance.
The Honest Merchant
Called Al-Amin (The Trustworthy) before his prophethood — enemies trusted him with their valuables even as they fought him. His integrity was legendary throughout Arabia.
The Trusted Leader
United over 100,000 followers at his farewell Hajj. Built the first welfare state, an independent judiciary, and a society that valued all human beings equally.
The Loving Husband
25 years devoted to one wife, Khadijah ؓ. Years after her death, he still spoke of her with tears. He defined the gold standard of spousal love and loyalty.
The Caring Father
He played with his grandchildren, kissed them, wept for them. In an age of brutality, his tenderness toward children was revolutionary. He never once raised his hand against a child.
The Teacher
The first word revealed to him was “Read.” His mosque was the world’s first free university. He made seeking knowledge obligatory for every Muslim — male and female.
The Statesman
The Constitution of Medina — drafted by him — is considered the world’s first written constitutional document guaranteeing rights to all citizens regardless of faith.
Mercy To All of Humanity
God described him in the Quran: “We have not sent you except as a mercy to all the worlds.” Not to Arabs. Not to Muslims. To all of humanity — for all time.
The Ultimate Role Model
He was not just a religious figure. He lived every dimension of the human experience — and excelled in each one.
“And indeed, you are of a great moral character.”
— Quran 68:4
“If greatness of purpose, smallness of means, and astounding results are the three criteria of human genius, who could dare to compare any great man in modern history with Muhammad?”
— Alphonse de Lamartine
As a Son
Orphaned young, yet grew up with the highest character. He honored his wet-nurse Halimah throughout her life and never forgot those who raised him.
As a Husband
Helped with household chores. Raced with his wife. Never raised his hand against a woman. Said: “The best of you are those who are best to their wives.”
As a Father
He kissed his children openly when men of his time considered this weak. He wept when his son Ibrahim died. He called Fatimah ؓ “a piece of his heart.”
As a Friend
He sent gifts to the friends of Khadijah ؓ years after her death. His companions said they had never loved anyone more deeply in their lives.
As a Neighbor
He said: “He is not a believer whose neighbor is not safe from his harm.” He visited the sick and buried the dead — regardless of their faith.
As a Leader
Led from the front. Consulted companions. Lived simply while leading the most powerful state in Arabia. Power never changed him.
As a Judge
Applied the same law to himself as to all others. Said: “Even if Fatimah the daughter of Muhammad were to steal, I would apply the law.”
As a Worshipper
He prayed until his feet swelled. When asked why, he said: “Should I not be a grateful servant?” — despite being promised paradise.
What The World’s Greatest Minds Said
About Muhammad ﷺ
These are not Muslim scholars. These are historians, philosophers, and writers from across centuries and faiths who studied his life.
“My choice of Muhammad to lead the list of the world’s most influential persons may surprise some readers, but he was the only man in history who was supremely successful on both the religious and secular level.”
“If greatness of purpose, smallness of means, and astounding results are the three criteria of human genius, who could dare to compare any great man in modern history with Muhammad?”
“He was Caesar and Pope in one; but he was Pope without Pope’s pretensions, Caesar without the legions of Caesar: without a standing army, without a bodyguard, without a palace, without a fixed revenue.”
“I have studied him — the wonderful man — and in my opinion, far from being an anti-Christ, he must be called the savior of humanity. I believe that if a man like him were to assume the dictatorship of the modern world, he would succeed in solving its problems.”
“Muhammad was the most successful of all religious personalities of history. He founded a nation, a culture, and a great worldwide religion. To be so completely in harmony with the totality of one’s being — that is genius.”
“Muhammad brought down from heaven not religious doctrines only but political maxims, civil and criminal laws, and scientific theories. The Gospels, on the other hand, deal only with the general relations between man and God.”
Common Misconceptions
About Muhammad ﷺ — Answered
Before forming an opinion, explore what the historical evidence actually says. These are the questions people ask most — answered honestly.
Did He Spread Islam By The Sword?
When Muhammad ﷺ entered Mecca after 21 years of opposition — he declared a general amnesty. Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim nation, was never invaded.
Read the Full AnswerWhy Did He Have Multiple Marriages?
His first and longest marriage was monogamous — 25 years with Khadijah ؓ. Later marriages had diplomatic and humanitarian purposes in a tribal society. Context matters.
Read the Full AnswerWas Islam Forced On People?
The Quran states: “There is no compulsion in religion.” (2:256). The rapid spread of Islam through character, trade, and scholarship tells a very different story.
Read the Full AnswerWhat Did He Teach About Women?
He gave women property rights, inheritance, the right to choose a spouse, and divorce — in the 7th century, long before the Western world did the same.

His final sermon — to 100,000+ people — covered the rights of women, workers, non-Muslims, and the poor with clarity that preceded the UN Declaration by 1,400 years.

He was simultaneously a prophet, statesman, judge, military commander, teacher, husband, and father — each role performed with extraordinary excellence. History has no parallel.

Mercy To Children
He kissed children when men around him did not. He shortened prayers when he heard a child crying so the mother would not be distressed.
Mercy To Women
He said “Treat women kindly” in his final sermon. He was the first leader in history to make kindness to wives a religious obligation.
Mercy To Animals
He promised paradise to a woman who gave water to a dying dog. He forbade branding animals on the face or using them as targets.
Mercy To Enemies
When he returned victorious to Mecca after 21 years of persecution, he declared a general amnesty. He said: “Go — you are all free.”
Mercy To Society
He built the first welfare state, created rights for non-Muslim citizens, abolished tribal discrimination, and established equality before God.
The Last Prophet — Completing
One Divine Message
From the first human to the last prophet — God sent messengers to every nation, all with the same core message: worship the One God and live righteously.
Why Was Muhammad ﷺ The Last Prophet?
The message he brought — the Quran — is perfectly preserved, word for word, in over 10 million living memories today. No prophet is needed after a message perfectly preserved for 1,400 years. The guidance is complete. The invitation remains open — to every human being, until the last day.
Jesus عليه السلام In Islam
Muslims love and revere Jesus — not as an afterthought, but as one of the greatest prophets in history. The Quran mentions Jesus more than Muhammad ﷺ by name.
Virgin Birth
The Quran describes the miraculous birth of Jesus to the Virgin Mary in beautiful detail — one of the most moving passages in Islamic scripture.
Miracles of Jesus
Jesus healed the blind, cured leprosy, raised the dead, and spoke as an infant — all by the permission of God. Islam affirms all his miracles.
Jesus in the Quran
Mentioned 25 times. Mary has an entire chapter named after her (Surah Maryam). Jesus is honored as one of the five greatest prophets.
Return of Jesus
Muslims believe Jesus was raised alive to God — and will return before the Day of Judgment as a just ruler to establish peace on earth.
إِنَّمَا الْمَسِيحُ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ“The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, was no more than a Messenger of God.” — Quran 4:171
Muslims cannot be Muslim if they do not believe in Jesus. Belief in Jesus as a prophet of God is a requirement of Islamic faith.
Muslims and Christians agree on: the virgin birth, the miracles of Jesus, his second coming, his sinless character, and his role as the Messiah.
The difference is not about who Jesus was — it is about what he was. That is the question.
Moses & Abraham عليهم السلام
In Islam
Moses عليه السلام in Islam
Musa (Moses) is the prophet mentioned most frequently in the Quran — over 136 times. He is a central figure in Islamic faith.
Liberation from Pharaoh: Moses stood before the most powerful tyrant on earth with nothing but his staff and his faith. His confrontation with Pharaoh is the Quran’s greatest story of truth versus power.
Lessons of Leadership: Moses was humble, deeply human, and flawed — yet chosen by God. His journey teaches us that God does not choose the perfect; He perfects those He chooses.
Moses in the Quran: The Quran narrates his story in extraordinary detail — his birth in Pharaoh’s palace, the parting of the sea, and his forty nights on Mount Sinai.
Abraham عليه السلام in Islam
Ibrahim (Abraham) — called “Khalilullah” (Friend of God) — is the father of monotheism and one of the most beloved prophets in Islam.
Father of Monotheism: Abraham argued for the existence of One God using reason and observation — in a society of idol worshippers. His intellectual courage was extraordinary.
Builder of the Kaaba: Together with his son Ishmael, Abraham built the Kaaba in Mecca — the house of God that 2 million pilgrims circumambulate every year during Hajj.
Legacy of Faith: Abraham is honored in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam — the spiritual father of all three Abrahamic faiths, a unifying figure across 4 billion believers.
The Quran — The Word of God
Preserved For 1,400 Years
What is the Quran?
The direct word of God — revealed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ through the Angel Jibreel over 23 years. It is not Muhammad’s words. It is God speaking directly to humanity.
Preservation of the Quran
The only religious scripture in history memorized completely by millions of people in every generation — a living chain of preservation across 14 centuries.
Miracles of the Quran
Descriptions of embryology, cosmology, and oceanography that science only confirmed in the 19th and 20th centuries. Its challenge remains unmet: “Produce a chapter like it.”
A Universal Message
The Quran speaks to “humanity” — using the phrase “O humankind” to address all people in all ages. Not Arabs. Not Muslims only. All of humanity.
Evidence For Islam —
Examine It Honestly
Islam does not ask for blind faith. The Quran repeatedly commands: “Do they not think and reflect?” Here is the evidence worth examining.
Historical Evidence
The life of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the most thoroughly documented in ancient history. His sayings, actions, and biography were recorded by hundreds of companions and cross-verified over centuries.
Quranic Evidence
An illiterate man in 7th-century Arabia produced a text that remains the pinnacle of Arabic literary excellence — that his enemies, masters of poetry, admitted they could not match.
Fulfilled Prophecies
The Quran and Hadith contain dozens of specific prophecies about future events — the conquest of Persia and Rome, the building of towers by barefoot Bedouins — fulfilled in detail.
Perfect Preservation
No other scripture has been preserved with the perfection of the Quran. The same text, in the same Arabic, memorized by millions across 14 centuries — unchanged by a single letter.
Scientific Accuracy
Statements about embryology, the expanding universe, the barrier between two seas — all in a 7th-century text, confirmed by modern science centuries later.
Rational Argument
The existence of God, the purpose of creation, the reality of accountability — Islam addresses each through direct rational argument. The Quran invites investigation, not blind acceptance.
